James "Jim" Ronald Blewitt passed away on June 8, 2007 in Fort Walton Beach, FL. after battling a long illness.
Jim was born on December 14, 1943 in Santa Monica, California to his father Lloyd Blewitt and mother Betty Blewitt. He grew up in Loveland, Colorado and graduated from Colorado State University.
After college, Jim entered pilot training in Lubbock, Texas and graduated to an assignment on B-52’s in Warner Robbins, Georgia. He served several tours in Southeast Asia first as a pilot on B-52’s and later as a combat search and rescue pilot on H-53’s.
Jim’s career saw assignments throughout the USA with Fort Walton Beach becoming the family home 27 years ago due to an assignment on MH-53 helicopters with the 20th Special Operations Squadron. After 21 years of service in the United States Air Force, Jim retired and continued to serve his country in the defense industry until retiring for a second time five years ago.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Sandy. He is survived by his brother Dennis Blewitt of Boulder, Colorado along with his four children and two grandchildren.
He is buried at Barrancas National Cemetery.
